Site information
The site is designed to be viewed at high screen resolutions. Most of the documents and images reproduced on the site are either known or believed to be in the public domain or are original illustrations. Sources are clearly identified wherever possible. Other images are either used by permission of the owners or permission is pending. Documents are presented unaltered with exception of minor contrast adjustment and removal of scanning artifacts where necessary.
